Family engagement is key to all early learning, more so now during the pandemic. Learners will:

1. Learn four strategies for supporting families at home

2. Learn three ways that children can learn at home through hands-on activities

3. Develop a plan for fostering literacy at home through family engagement.

About the Presenter:

Dr. Palacios was an inductee in 2014 in the National Teachers Hall of Fame, the first Latina inductee in the country. She is a pioneer in the field of dual language learning and is founding director and a former vice chair of the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. A National Board Certified teacher, she taught early childhood in Corpus Christi ISD for 34 years. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas at Austin and continues to work in early childhood, dual language, family engagement and educational media spaces.
