Me and My Memory: Why We Forget Some Things and Remember Others is the first in the ¿All About Me¿ series from Hoopoe Books. It explores the mystery of an important part of what makes us human. How do we remember? How do we forget? Memory is what gives us a past, illuminates our present, and helps us orient to the future. Young people will discover all that scientists and researchers know and explore questions yet to be answered. Written in a clear and accessible style by high school teacher Robert Guarino, the book is illustrated (courtesy of Jeff Jackson) by an engaging cast of little robots who serve as the readers¿ guides on an informative and entertaining journey. Readers will learn how their own and other people¿s memories work, as well as why memory is powerful but not perfect, and they¿ll discover strategies for improving memory. Me and My Memory can be used to provide supplemental activities within a high school psychology course, or as a stand-alone ¿memory¿ unit to increase student productivity and improve study behavior in grades 8 through 12. Its program is designed to meet the American Psychological Association's National Standards for Psychology at the high school level, the standards established for the College Board AP Psychology course, and the National Board Standards for Science/Adolescent and Young Adulthood.
