Written for future administrators, this textbook describes the process by which childcare centers are established and run. It provides advice on assessing the need for childcare, budgeting, writing a business plan, facilities, equipment and supplies, staffing, marketing, the daily routine, the director's role, staff morale and stability, safety, program evaluation, and other administrative concerns. Both proprietary and not-for-profit organizations are discussed. The authors teach child development and family relations at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
