Synopsis

By Christmas 1944, the Allies were on the threshold of victory, havng remorselessley rolled the Germans back to the very borders of 'The Fatherland'. This, the shock of a massive Nazi counter-attack through the Ardennes in the depth of winter threw the Allies into confusion. Whole brigades of American troops were overwhelmed and panic began to spread. Bastogne was at the very centre of this dramatic and most dangerous set back. This was Hilter's master-stroke which so nearly succeeded. Drawing on eye-witness accounts from both sides, this splendid book paints a graphic picture of the battle and enables the visitor to follow events as they unfolded at a dark moment of the war.
