"My goal is to read 100 books for summer reading!" It's a lofty goal for any young student, but for Annika it's especially challenging. Annika has dyslexia.
Yet, she's not worried. Actually, she's excited! Annika joined a summer reading program
designed specifically for students like her, students with print disabilities. The program is offered by Learning Ally
, a national non-profit that provides audiobooks to students with print disabilities.
"She is having a really good time keeping track of her goals while chatting with friends, relatives, and teachers about what she's reading," says her mother, Catherine. Those same friends get involved by sponsoring
Annika to read!
Join in the summer reading fun!
You can read along with Annika! First join Summer Reading Together
your own page, then set your goals (aim high) and ask friends and family to sponsor you. There's even a section where they can cheer you on as discuss books with you!
Twenty students with the most reading activity will win prizes, including TABLETS for the top 4 overall readers! In addition to the prizes awarded for reading, we’re offering 3 MORE prizes for those who fundraise
including a prize for those who:
- Raise the most money
- Have the most individual sponsors
- Have the most updated days on their fundraising page
You can ask anyone you know to sponsor you: friends and family members, neighbors, your friends’ parents, local shops, etc. Send the link
to your sponsors and ask your parents to share on Facebook
and other social media. The more people supporting you, the more reading you will accomplish! Sign up and get started here: LearningAlly.org/Summer
