Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction
Flora Encarnacao currently serves as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction for the Kearny School District. She was appointed Superintendent of Schools beginning on July 1, 2022. Mrs. Encarnacao is a first generation American whose parents immigrated from Portugal. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education/Social Studies from Caldwell University, an M.A. in Instruction & Curriculum with a specialization in Bilingual Education from Kean University and an M.A. in Educational Administration from Montclair State University. Mrs. Encarnacao has served the Kearny School District since 2001 as an elementary teacher, instructional coach, Director of Curriculum & Instruction and was most recently promoted to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction. She has chaired the Hudson County Professional Development Consortium and the Hudson County Curriculum Consortium. She is also an Executive Member of the Montclair State University Network for Educational Renewal (MSUNER). Mrs. Encarnacao is proud to be part of the Kearny School District, where staff work tirelessly to provide our students with the very best education and opportunities for future success and well-being. She currently lives in Wayne, NJ with her husband, Lieutenant Rui Encarnacao, North Arlington Police Department and two children, Evan, 13, and Ava, 10. n July 1, 2022.
