Synopsis

This introductory textbook describes how anthropology can be applied to the efforts to remedy specific social problems, both domestically and internationally. The methods, theory, history, and ethics of the discipline concern less than one-third of the text, the rest being devoted to career management issues. Attention is given to careers in development, advocacy, social service, law enforcement, business and marketing, and health care. The book also offers short biographies of prominent anthropologists.
