Learning Disability Teacher-Consultant, Freehold Township Schools and Princeton Center for Educational Assessment

Laura McGowan is a Learning Disability Teacher-Consultant for Freehold Township Schools. She also works for the Princeton Center for Educational Assessments in her free time. Laura earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Rutgers College and has a Master of Science in Special Education from Rutgers University. Laura is trained in all strands of Project Read and is the District trainer for Project Read Phonology and Framing Your Thoughts. She is trained in Just Words, Fundations, Visualizing and Verbalizing.

Laura works with students with learning disabilities in the district and privately. Laura’s passion is to train and support teachers in structured literacy and to help all children learn to read.

Data-Based Decision Making and Progress Monitoring in Reading

The presentation aims to provide participants with data-based procedures for monitoring the growth/progress of students currently receiving reading intervention. This presentation is appropriate for teachers of students receiving intervention through MTSS or Special Education. Participants will be able to apply the process immediately as part of their practice.
