More Than Audiobooks: Back-to-School Essentials for Struggling Readers

As back-to-school season ramps up, many parents are searching for tools that will truly make a difference in their child’s academic success—especially those with learning differences like dyslexia. If your child struggles with reading, the Learning Ally Audiobook Solution is more than just an audiobook app—it’s a science-backed, multi-modal learning tool designed to unlock your child’s potential.

Unlocking Real Progress, Fast

So what makes this audiobook solution different? It’s not just convenient—it’s been proven to double the rate of reading growth in just 50 days. With a 75+ year legacy of providing human-read audiobooks, Learning Ally empowers families with a tool that doesn’t just support reading—it transforms it.

Learning Ally volunteers bring books to life, narrating more than 50,000 titles—including textbooks—accessible anytime, anywhere. It’s like your child is carrying a library in their backpacks and choosing the books they need and want to read on their own.

Teacher Aria J. shares, “Learning Ally recommends reading for 20 minutes a day… not for my class, it’s 30 minutes or more.  Because if you can scroll, you can read!

Why the Human Voice Makes a Difference

But it’s not just about having access to thousands of books—it’s how those books are read that sets Learning Ally apart. Unlike AI-generated audiobooks or services like Bookshare, Learning Ally offers human-narrated books that align with the Science of Reading. These narrators model fluency, expression, and character voices in a way AI simply can’t replicate.

Benefits include:

  • Enhanced comprehension through emotional tone, prosody, and clear character differentiation
  • Vocabulary growth via exposure to academic language and story structure
  • Fluency modeling that struggling readers can imitate and internalize
  • Deeper engagement, particularly for learners with dyslexia or ADHD
