The educator journey is one of dedication, continuous learning and tireless effort to support their students’ growth and achievement. As school districts reconcile the need for a deeper understanding and application of the science of reading, surveys show that educators feel ill-prepared. To support educators and bridge that gap, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and Learning Ally are working together with literacy coach and past President of the ILA, Dr. Ken Kunz, to provide a free, comprehensive Literacy Video Library, providing on-demand access to Brain Based Literacy Instruction support.
Through the web-based video library, educators will embark on a journey into the vibrant classrooms of two dedicated elementary educators, where literacy instruction is not just taught but brought to life. Videos provide educators with access to a collection of practical strategies on word recognition, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension, designed to empower educators to foster reading success for every student.
“The Literacy Video Library is an important educator resource, enabling educators to reflect on their practices and enhance the impact of their first-tier literacy instruction,” said Brent Hartsell, Director of Professional Learning at Learning Ally. “We are excited to work with the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to provide these very helpful videos and tools to educators at no cost and we are looking forward to hearing more feedback from our education partners at districts across the country as they leverage these resources in their daily practice.”
