How to Use Teacher Ally

The administrator of your school’s Learning Ally membership can give educators the following roles and abilities. Every educator receives their own account — log in at LearningAlly.org/login to begin.

ADMINISTRATORS

Go to MANAGE EDUCATORS and ADD AN EDUCATOR. Select the APPROPRIATE ROLE if applicable.

The Data Manager role allows the user to add/update user rosters in bulk.

The Library Manager role allows users to edit what books are available in student search.

Both educators and admins have the ability to certify students to use the program. There is no limit on the amount of admins/educators that can be added to an account.

ADDING STUDENTS

 

Go to MANAGE STUDENTS to begin adding students.

Click ADD A STUDENT to add an individual student, or if you are a Data Manager, click ADD/UPDATE STUDENTS FROM FILE to bulk upload multiple students.

Create a username and password that will be easy for your student to remember. Complete form and click CREATE STUDENT to save.

If your Learning Ally account is integrated with a rostering service like CLASSLINK or CLEVER, the student accounts may already be created.

Search the student name or number to locate existing accounts.

MANAGING STUDENTS

Follow the steps below to qualify students and add them books.

ELIGIBILITY

Once your students have been added into Learning Ally, they will need to be QUALIFIED to use the program.

Data Managers can qualify eligible students in bulk from the ADD/UPDATE STUDENTS FROM FILE option on the MANAGE STUDENTS tab.

Both Admins and Educators have the ability to qualify students on an individual basis from the Manage Students tab by following the steps below:

You can search for the student you need to qualify by name or student number, or use the “filter by status” option and select “Pending Qualification” to bring up a list of all none-qualified students.

To the right of the students name and information under the eligibility column, choose select.

In the popup window, select the eligibility type that applies to the student.

Select save, the student will now have full access to Learning Ally’s audiobook library.

ADDING A STUDENT TO YOUR DASHBOARD

Educators and Admins can add and remove students from their My Students list directly from the Manage Students tab. Adding a student will allow you to track their reading data as well as add books directly into their bookshelf. Follow the steps below to do so:

1.) Navigate to your Manage Students tab.

2.) Use the filter or search options to bring up the students you would like to add.

3.) Under the Actions column furthest to the right, select the + MY STUDENTS button to add a student to your My Students. You can also bulk add students by selecting the checkbox to the left of each desired student and selecting the + MY STUDENTS button located below the table on the right.

4.) To remove a student, under the Actions column select the – MY STUDENTS button to remove a student from your My Students list. Click the Dashboard to see your My Students list.

ASSIGNING BOOKS

Each student must be marked as eligible before books can be downloaded.

Go to BROWSE AUDIOBOOKS or the SEARCH BAR to find and select a title.

Click ADD TO BOOKSHELF to assign a book to your own Bookshelf. Click ASSIGN BOOK to assign books to one or multiple students.

Encourage students to read and begin tracking progress — go to your DASHBOARD to begin tracking the reading progress of students assigned to you.

UPDATING/ARCHIVING/DELETING

Students should be updated or archived each new school year.

Go to the ACTION tab under MANAGE STUDENTS.

Select UPDATE to change a student’s school or grade level.

Current books will remain on bookshelf. Select ARCHIVE if this student no longer uses Learning Ally at your school.

After archiving, your Administrator/Master Admin can select DELETE if you would like to completely remove the student’s profile from your school.
