<i>Literature: A Portfolio Edition</i>returns the complementary processes of reading and writing about the different literary genres to the center of the classroom. Only through self-conscious attention to the way in which both student writers and literary texts communicate meaning can students become independent critical thinkers. For this reason,<i>Literature</i>aims to incorporate attention to reading and writing economically into all of its features.
