Dyslexic student leads event

Mother – daughter team Violet and Jennifer helped Santa Barbara families explore their superpowers at a kickoff event at the public library announcing the partnership between Learning Ally and the Santa Barbara Unified School District. Learning Ally Parent Support Specialist Jennifer Biang and her daughter Violet, who has dyslexia, led a presentation and then gave students with dyslexia the opportunity to craft their own “superpower shield” and receive colored bracelets to represent their unique talents. Families did the craft together and had time to share their personal stories about dyslexia.
