Nancy’s visual impairment developed when she was nine years of age, but it never hindered her from setting and pursuing high goals. She completed her undergraduate studies in Special Education in 2009, and worked as a teacher in the Duval County public school system. She returned to do graduate studies at the University of North Florida, completing her Masters of Education and Nonprofit Management Certificate. Her goal is to develop a nonprofit organization that will lend support to high school graduates with disabilities. “My disability has always been a challenge for me and sometimes for people I meet, but it has never deterred me from pursuing a higher education. A new goal I have added to my life is to communicate in any way that blindness does not mold and limit a person, but is just a characteristic of an individual.”
