Kettner J. F. Griswold

Kettner was elected to the National Board of Directors in 2006, and has served on the Executive Committee. After becoming a member of RFB&D in 1982, he received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland in 1985, as well as his Master’s degree in engineering management from George Washington University in 1994. By his own account, RFB&D accessible audiobook texts were vital in Kettner’s educational success, enabling him to learn and succeed despite dyslexia. Kettner was a member of the Metropolitan Washington Unit Board for six years, and served in 2004-2005 as Vice Chair. He also currently serves on Learning Ally’s National Advisory and Advocacy Council (NAAC) and served on its predecessor committee, the Consumer Advisory Council (CAC), beginning in 1986. He has supported RFB&D / Learning Ally in numerous other ways, including providing testimony to the U.S. Senate Education Committee. Kettner has also served for nine years as a vestry member at Christ Episcopal Church in Kensington, MD, and is currently active as assistant scout master for Boy Scout Troop 1427 in Potomac, MD. Kettner is employed by Orbital Sciences Corporation as the Chief Engineer for the Pegasus Launch Vehicle. He works closely with NASA and USAF organizations to launch their satellites. He is married and has two college-aged children – a daughter and a son.
