Katherine Hover, Special Educator Irving Middle School Fairfax County Public Schools, Springfield, VA

Katherine has worked with students in five different states before settling in Northern Virginia where she has worked with students with learning differences since 2014. A leader in her school, Katherine serves as the Technology Outreach and Program Support Teacher and works directly with the Assistive Technology Resource teacher to support the students and teachers in her building. To ensure vertical articulation she collaborates with the pyramid elementary schools monthly. She is a contributing member of the Irving Literacy Team planning and delivering professional development to school staff. To provide authentic audiences for her struggling readers, she has connected with elementary teachers throughout the school district to partner her students with virtual reading buddies. Her students’ confidence in reading ability has grown throughout this process.
