Christian is a freshman at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville on the Pre-Med track. He is pursuing a degree in Microbiology with the goal of becoming a Trauma Surgeon. Christian’s partnership with Learning Ally began during freshman year at St. Xavier High School. He discovered the Learning Ally website while researching audiobook resources to increase his reading speed and comprehension of nightly reading assignments – which previously had him studying into the early hours of the morning. Christian credits Learning Ally with helping him reach his full academic potential in the classroom as an auditory learner without appearing different from his peers, and by giving him the gift of time to get involved in extra-curricular activities -- which include volunteering in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky and on his college campus as a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Until embracing his learning difference with the help of Learning Ally, Christian struggled with low self-esteem. Reminders of this struggle fuel his passion as a confident college student to pursue a career in the medical field, with a particular interest in helping others struggling like he once was to reach their own potential.
