Synopsis

A Journey of Faith is a clearly stated and tightly woven overview of the Christian faith, designed as -- and admirably suited for -- an introduction to Christianity, its background, founding, history, and teachings. The basic components of this introduction include an overview of the Bible. Old Testament and New Testament; an introduction to and summary of the history of the church; and a summary outline of the tenets of the faith -- Christian Theology. Designed for a college introductory course entitled "An Introduction to Christianity." A Journey of Faith may be adapted to any such comprehensive introduction course, but also may be adapted to individual or seriatim courses introducing the Old Testament, New Testament. Church History, and Christian Theology. The first unit of A Journey of Faith is a general introduction and overview of the Old Testament and its significance for understanding the world into which Jesus Christ was born. Unit 2 introduces the New Testament, with emphasis on the ministry and message of Jesus and the establishment, growth, and teachings of the church. The third unit surveys the history of that church from its beginnings until the present day, a succinct overview of the persons, movements, and events in the history of Christianity. Finally, the unit on Christian Theology presents the fundamental elements of the Christian faith as these pertain specifically to the Protestant tradition -- but of course with abundantly adequate notice of how such elements relate to every tradition in the history of Christianity. A Journey of Faith is designed for a college introductory course (or courses), but it will well serve anyone seeking a readable and informative introduction to Christianity, its background, foundation, history, and contents.
