YES! Program Launches in Utah

Learning Ally's popular YES! Program is growing! Already in three states (Colorado, New Jersey and Massachusetts), the student-to-student dyslexia mentorship program is set to expand into Utah this summer.
"We are extremely thrilled for the Yes! Program to come to Utah," says Utah dyslexia mom and YES! Hub Leader Audrey Anderson. "What a wonderful opportunity for our youth to become such great examples of self-advocacy, and to see their confidence grow as they help empower others."
This in-person program pairs younger students with learning differences with an older student who also has a learning difference. The older student is trained to help guide the younger one through a series of goals. The purpose of YES! is to train students with learning differences to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, to help them build confidence and to provide them with the tools they need to become strong self-advocates. 13 year-old Joya, a YES! member from Colorado, encourages Utah students to join so that "they have a place they can just open up and be who they are freely." Anderson echoes Joya's statement saying "we are excited for them to learn and use new skills. Their voice in our communities will be very important in raising awareness."
