edWebinar: "Disunity in Reading Instruction: The High Cost of Confusion"

Wednesday, November 30, 2022 2:00 PM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada) to Wednesday, November 30, 2022 3:00 PM (UTC-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada)

Location: Online

Presented by Terrie Noland, Ph.D., CALP, Vice President of Educator Initiatives, Learning Ally
Moderated by Elizabeth Zwerg, Community Manager, Learning Ally

Students will listen to the teacher that is in front of them. If they are learning disproven methods such as cueing in a general education setting and then learning decoding methods in intervention classes, they will do what the teacher in front of them is asking them to do. Students cannot decipher which method is appropriate or harmful. The disunity of instruction is causing confusion, stress, and detrimental outcomes for students and educators. In this edWebinar, the presenter will provide examples of what is happening when disunity is at play and, more importantly, how educators can lead large to begin a path toward implementing a unified approach to instruction.

Attendees will:

  • Understand the harm and setbacks created for students when disunity is at play
  • Be convinced of the dire need to teach evidence-based practices aligned to the Science of Reading in every space and place where students are learning
  • Walk away with steps on how to begin leading towards a path of unity of instruction

This edWebinar will be of interest to K-12 teachers and school and district leaders. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
